Netball

Regulations
  1. All games to be played in accordance with current AANA rules unless contra indicated below.
  2. The home team to supply a size 5 (71cm) ball for the game.
  3. Time available for match should be divided into four equal quarters with 2, 5, 2 minutes between breaks. (12 minute quarters.)
  4. All players must wear bibs clearly showing their playing position. Students have the option of wearing either skirts or shorts, in their schools colours. (Schools to notify their umpires.)
  5. Players do not need to wait for the umpire to call ‘play’ for a throw in.
  6. Before taking a throw in, all players are to be back on the court.
  7. Substitutes may be made at any interval, and as necessary in case of injury.
  8. The match to be played inside or outside as determined by the host school.
  9. At the beginning of the game all nails to be checked before players take the court.
  10. If a team chooses to wear shorts, none of the shorts are allowed to have pockets.
  11. There should be minimal movement between grades by the players. If the “A” grade team is short of players, then a “B” grade player can fill in to help out. This does not exclude the “B” grade player from playing finals for the “B” grade team.
  12. Schools should keep their own records in relation to which students play in what team.

Netball – Mixed

  1. A maximum of 7 players may take the court at one time, and no less than 5 players. If a team does not have 5 players, the game will not commence until at least 5 players have arrived.
  2. A team must start with at least one male on the court, with a maximum of three males may be on the court at any time. Teams may use more than three males during the game but must only have three on at any time with any extras being used as substitutes.
  3. If during the game any males are injured which results in the team being left with no males then play may continue provided the team still has 5 players on court.
  4. Male players shall play one in each area of the court (mid court, goals, and defence). The combination is:
    • GS or GA
    • WA or C or WD
    • GD or GK
  5. The game structure for the Mixed Netball competition is as follows:
    • 16-minute halves
    • Substitutions can be made at a centre pass closest to the 8-minute mark of each half (this will be determined by the umpires)
    • A half time break of 2 minutes
  6. If one team is late, the centre pass is automatically given to the team who has arrived on time.

Mercy Rule:
Once a team is 20 goals or more in front, the losing team is to take all centre passes until they get to within 20 goals. Maximum winning margin: 30 goals.

Tied Grand Final:
In the case of a Grand Final being tied, teams are to play 5 minutes extra time and if necessary, a 2nd 5 minutes extra time. If still tied, shared Premiership.
